Since childhood, movement has been as natural to Nao Kusumi as breathing. Years spent dancing on stage attuned her body to the language of motion. This lifelong exploration eventually led her to the profound path of Rolfing, and in 2009, she became a certified Rolfer. That same year, she began teaching somatic education at a university, where she has since been gently rippling awareness through the lives of students and clients alike.

Her encounter with Continuum came through fellow Rolfer Ryotaka Koda. Participating in a retreat held in Japan, she experienced how the body, like water, can soften and reawaken—and how the way we perceive the world can begin to shift from within. Since then, she has continued to deepen her inquiry under the guidance of Susan Harper, Rebecca Lawson, Linda Rabin, and Gael Rosewood, listening closely to the quiet pulse that lives between movement and stillness.

Living in Tokyo, she finds nourishment in time spent in nature, in journeys that open her to the unknown, and in embodying Japanese culture through the practice of Aikido.

Through her practice of Rolfing and her devotion to somatic education, she creates spaces where people can meet their bodies with curiosity and care—spaces where the unseen and unspoken may gently rise to the surface, and where each person can rediscover the quiet depth of their own potential.
